The City of Piqua has published their 2022 Annual Rate Surveys. The rate study compares water and sewer rates among 64 jurisdictions in our area over a 3-month billing period. Lakengren Water Authority (LWA) has taken our combined water and sewer rates and determined where LWA will fall among the other jurisdictions in 2023.
Wise financial planning, routine maintenance of infrastructure and equipment, and skilled employees can all be accredited to LWA’s ability to provide quality service to the residents of Lakengren while still keeping rates low. However, with increased costs impacting operations and ongoing maintenance of an aging infrastructure, LWA does see a need in the near future to increase rates.
During 2022 Lakengren Water Authority did an analysis of our operating costs and anticipated infrastructure expenses. Part of this analysis was a Facilities Appraisal conducted by Mote & Associates that can be viewed on this website. After thorough analysis, we are increasing water and sewer rates for 2023.
Information regarding the Facilities Appraisal and rate increase can be found at the links below:

After review of our water and sewer rates it has been determined that the LWA is in need a rate increase to deal with inflation and the rising costs of goods and services. The rate increase will be an overall increase of $3.00 per month, making the minimum monthly service charge $73.25. The rate increase will be effective with your invoice payable January 15, 2025.
