ADOPT-A-HYDRANT PROGRAM

The Lakengren Water Authority Board of Trustees is beginning a program called Adopt-A-Hydrant for Lakengren and the surrounding areas.  These areas would also include the fire hydrants on Paint Creek and Longman Roads.

As recent snows showed us, hydrants can be covered quickly and become unreachable.  If you live near a hydrant and would like to volunteer to either snow blow or shovel a path to and around that hydrant, please call the LWA office at (937) 456-4455.  The LWA hopes to have a volunteer for each of the approximately 110 fire hydrants in the Lakengren vicinity.

These hydrants are the orange and green-capped hydrants; the red pipes are flushing hydrants and are not used by the fire department.

When roads are in bad shape and the big pumper trucks can’t easily get around, the only recourse firemen may have are the hydrants.  Making sure the hydrant and surrounding areas is accessible may save your life, as well as limit damage to your house or your neighbor’s house.

If you can help in this area, please give the LWA office a call.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Please see the buttons at left for a map of area hydrants as well as a list of individuals who have already volunteered.
